Sports Photography? Ok, I have been a photographer for several years now, doing landscape photography, "industrial" photography, and special event work. Recently I have been taking photos at sporting events ranging from college level rowing to professional racing on my own time, and I have not only found I have a knack for it, but I rather enjoy it. My question is, what is a good way to break into the Sports photography biz? Specifically racing.. where I have by far had the most fun. Does anyone know?
What is a good name for a sports photography business? I am trying to think of a name for a small sports photography business. We will also do some portrait work, photo DVDs, and possibly other things down the road so the name can't be too photography specific (in other words - no ABC Photography). Our names are very unusual and difficult to say so we can't go that route. Any ideas?
How do I get into sports photography? I took up photography a little while ago and I absolutely love it. I would like to do sports photography but, to be honest, I have no idea how to go about doing it. Any tips on how to go about building a portfolio and where to start when applying for jobs somewhere - or even what companies to apply to? Thanks.
How do I choose a good Digital SLR camera for sports photography? My main area of intrest is taking action shots and sports photos. Can anyone help or give me some suggestions to what I should be looking at? I'm planning to buy, but I don't have an unlimited amount of funds, if you know what I mean. As a matter of fact, I'm kind of strapped. Any suggestions on the best deal with greatest performance?
What is the best camera to buy for sports photography? First of all I am a PHD user of cameras (Push Here Dummy) (I don't want to deal with changing of lenses, focusing, backlighting, etc.) I have 2 kids in sports (soccer, gymnastics, basketball & football). They are often far away in the middle or on the other side of the field and of course in action! I want to be able to take quality CLOSE UP pictures with PHD function - good, fast, self-focusing zoom function an absolute must, and multiple fast repeating shots. So what are the best ones out there - I am not made of money so I would like to stay well under $1,000 while maintaining quality of picture and product performance. Anyone who has the experience to advise on what the aspects are to consider with regard to zoom capabilities/multi-frame shots and/or pinpoint a couple of selections would be greatly appreciated. (We have 7.0 mega pixel purse size camera, but its zoom while O.K. for nearby photos is O.K. just won't cut it for the sports!)
Which is the best digital SLR camera for sports photography? Sony, Nikon, Pentax? Make and model please!!!!! Also any top lense ideas? I am looking to spend up to around £700 on the body. I am interested in learning about photography and taking some action shots. Sailing, watersports, but also wildlife, people, etc. Ideas and suggestions much appreciated. Also, any top London schools for learning about using the camera?

What is the best camera setting for sports photography in lowlighting? I am shooting with a Canon Rebel XT 350D. It is easy to stop action during the day, in the natural daylight. But what about when the sun goes down. I am finding it hard to stop action. The camera is not focusing as fast and my pictures are coming out blurry. So after a certain time I just quit shooting. What am I doing wrong. I have been using the auto/sport setting. And no I don't have an external flash.
How can I start a sports photography business? I want to take the children's team photos for baseball, football etc. around the community. How can I get started doing this? What are some good digital photo programs or websites that would allow me to turn out professional looking cards, gifts, and photos? I am looking for images, backgrounds, logos, things like that. I think my question was misunderstood. I take great photos, everyone thinks so and my work is frequently complimented. I am basically looking for a program that adds the details on the photos, like the team name, logos, and graphics, different designs of my choosing. I am also looking for a great place to get the supplies or ideas for gifts such as photo tote bags, bag tags, cards, etc. that I can add my images to and re-sale. I have the edge of this business in my community, due to my persistence and the quality of my work, but want to "keep them coming" with innovative ideas and creativity, and am looking for some terrific programs to work with, or places to get some inspiration and supplies. Thanks!
How much does sports photography cost? I'm taking photos of a world champion team during their warm up sessions and training. Action shots, coaching shots, close up player shots, close up of captain briefing team, team photo, casual shots (players relaxing, chatting during training.) This team is number ONE rated WORLDWIDE and are defending champions...The agents also want me to confirm that I'll give them sole ownership of the images...This is my largest job to date and I do NOT want to under charge for the job... Please give me ideas.
what is the best film for action/sports photography? A friend of mine asked me to take a few pics of him playing football but I usually stick with landscape/nature photography so I'm not sure what film I should use or speed for my lens (I have a Nikon N75 and the AF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 lens). Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Tips on sports photography? I'd like to get into sports photography. Does anyone have any tips for me before I start? What about: Photographing indoor vs. outdoor sports? Best settings for the camera? Is a tripod needed? + anything else you think I should know. Also, do you know of any good online articles about sports photography or even just photography in general? Hope you're not getting too annoyed with all these questions. Thanks in advance! =)
Where can I post my Sports Photography? Does anyone knows a place like OMP (one model Place) but related to sports? I need a website to show and sell my soccer shots but I dont know how to start Thanks..
is sports photography a good career choice??? i am thinking of whether or not to take a course in sports photography and am wondering if anyone could give me any information about whether they think this is a good choice. Is it enjoyable? What is the pay like? Working hours? etc
Freelance Sports Photography Rates? I've decided to do some Freelance work on the side and have found a local magazine in the Midwest (U.S.) that covers local high school sports. They've just started and have only put out a couple of issues, but I sent them some examples of my work from a high school football game I shot last week. They decided they liked one of my shots and now are asking me what I charge. I've been looking on-line and can’t seem to find any rates of what most people charge. I'm new at this as are they, so I'd rather not ask them and not get what its worth. I have no idea what a reasonable amount would be. What Ballpark range should I be asking for a single Hi-res action shot that will prob. take up 1/4 page in a new local magazine that prob doesn't have much of a budget?
Is the Nikon D3 good for basic photography or just sports? I'm shooting with a D80 right now and I understand the leap that is the D3. However, I want to shoot full-frame images and this is really my only option. I've been told by some photographers that the D3 is just a sports camera and will be useless for studio /outdoor artistic shots. What do you guys say?
I want more customers for my photography business (sports related).? I have a sports photography business, open since 2003. We have grown well over the past 4 years but would like ideas on building more business. We specialize in youth sports photography, not just still pics but concentrate mainly on action photos. We do local advertising via new papers, our website gets decent traffic and our repeat business is good. Any ideas to generate more would be great!
Sports photography on a budget? Hi, I am an amateur photographer who knows his way around cameras and how to capture the moment. the problem is i've never had the purse to move up to a DSLR. I am now looking to move up to a DSLR and was wondering what some good lenses and cameras would be for shooting in both daylight as well as nighttime (red sox game). I am leaning a bit more towards the Rebel XTi--can you recommend anylenses and/or cameras for me? thanx i appreciate the answer, but any specific model?
What would the best lense for sports photography (NASCAR Racing)? I bought a Nikon D40x a couple of weeks ago with the standard 18-55 lense...I'm attending the NASCAR races next weekend and would like to buy a better lense to take action shots of the cars. The races will start in daylight and end late at night. What lense(s) would you recommend? (I would like to stay under $300)
What DSLR camera do I need for sports photography? Im trying to get into photography but I just cant find a camera to buy that meets my needs. My budget is around $650 but could go up to around $800 if a lens is included. I will mostly take pictures at sporting events. I love professional sports and go a lot throughout the year so I know I will need a camera with a fast shutter and a good lens. I also go to museums and plan on taking a big trip to Washington DC and will take a ton of pictures there. When looking at cameras what should I look for that will show me if the shutter is fast enough for sports? Im brand new to photography so I don’t know hardly any of the terms of what to look for. So I will mostly be using the camera for sports but also outdoors and a few museums. I know I need a DSLR but after reading a ton of websites Im just confused. Im looking for a list of a few good cameras for professional sports that falls in my budget of around $650-$800. I will be taking pictures at all sports but mostly baseball and some football if that matters.
Selling Sports Photography? I want to sell pictures of the local little league games. I'm using photoreflect.com to host my images, but I'm only 17. Will i have problems as far a checks/money matters are concerned? Also, will the site provide me with all the information to print out and send photos to clients by myself? I'm shooting with a Canon Digital Rebel xt and I've got an Epson Stylus Pro 3800 on the way. Any suggestions or answers would be greatly appreciated.
Are there any photography clubs or enthusiasts in South Wales? I'm looking for any photography clubs in South Wales to join, preferably near Ystrad Mynach/Caerphilly. Alternatively any photography enthusiasts that would like a camera buddy, maybe you could teach me a thing or two! I prefer landscape/nature/sports photography as I have little to no experience with portraiture - although I'd love to learn how to take good portraits.
What do you think of this photography business name? I'm starting my own photography business and was going to concentrate on sports photography to start with so I came up with the name Play by Play Photography. My only concern is that it won't transcend to other areas well if I decide to start doing weddings or portraits. But maybe that wouldn't even matter... Any thoughts?
