how much should i charge for event photography?
hi, i'm a graphic designer, and i've been asked to do some event photography. basically i have to go to a wedding, and take some nice pictures, and try to be "different" doing so... which means i have to compose image and maybe make some montages.... i need help for this, given that its my first time in this kind of work....

- General event photography the client gets three to four hours for $300 and the rights to use about 30 photos on their website. Wedding photography is a whole different thing. When you consider that a wedding photographer gets $2000 to $5000 just to show up and the prints are an add on, you can see that charging $300 is not only inappropriate, but may get you into hot water with the principle photographer. I would guess you should charge between $500 and $1000 with a negotiated print arrangement ahead of time. I would give them a watermarked CD of all the images and then charge them for each image they want at the going rate.
