Tips on getting started in art photography?
I don't want a career in photography, I just want to pick it up as an interest. I've always admired photography and I would like to try. Do you have any tips on getting started?

- Just learn as much as you can about photography. Pick up books at your library, read internet articles, subscribe to a magazine...and have fun! Photography is a blast, you will love it! :-)
- Yes, you can find some excellent books in the library. If and when you get to the point you want some more interaction with others, taking a class can increase your joy of shooting photographs
- Here's some websites that may be helpful and get you started. Just remember, when you start taking pictures, the tendency is to keep on buying more expensive stuff. Just slow down and experiment with one factor at a time like exposure, composition, f/stop, lighting, flash etc. You'll eventually find one style that you like. Then expand from there and buy the equipment to satisfy that. General rule: Great lens first, then a dependable camera. I personally like Nikon, but Canon and others are good too. www.dpreview.com www.photo.net www.photosig.net www.bythom.com www.shooting-digital.com
